INTERVIEWS
When deciding upon what genre and style of trailer in which we as a group want to produce, we carried out audience research enabling us to receive the opinion of age appropriate individuals upon horror and the style of horror in which we should subsequently adopt for our trailer. In the interviews below, questions are asked which provoke a series of answers that in turn allow for us as a group to receive a good understanding of what the audience want from a trailer as well as the elements that should be included within it. The interviews created a situation in which we as a group were able to adapt upon allowing for the creation of ideas and pitch options to choose from.
Question 1 referred to the ideal sub-genre of horror for the asked individuals in which 50% of the individuals said slasher while 25% said torture and 25% said paranormal. This therefore shows that although slasher is the most popular out of the surveyed audience, there is a clear need for paranormal style trailers to satisfy a quarter of our asked audience.
In terms of question 2, which referred to the location in which the trailer should be filmed in, 25% of the asked individuals stated that everyday places such as fields and houses are of worthy filming time which 25% stated that asylums were a good place in which to film. However, 50% of the individuals asked stated that abandoned places and old buildings are a worthy location in which to film in for trailer. This says to us as a group that abandoned and old buildings are the most popular in terms of location and that we should look into this option before filming. However, 25% of the audience stated that everyday places such as houses and fields would be a good location and so it would be good to look into this location choice also for our trailer.
For question 3, the choice of death was asked to the audience members in which 100% stated that some form of gore and cutting would be good to use within the trailer and therefore as a result it is important that we as a group listen to this advise and no matter what sub-genre we follow, we are able to include a death or some form of injury at a minimum.
Question 4 referred to the weapon in which the asked individuals would like to see within the trailer. 25% of the asked audience stated that a hatchet would be a good weapon of choice within a horror while 25% of the asked audience stated that an axe would be a good choice of weapon. In addition to the previously stated results, 25% of the asked audience stated that a chainsaw would be a good weapon to use within our trailer and finally, 25% of the asked individuals stated that a scalpel would be a good weapon of choice. In terms of weapon this therefore suggests that we as a group must include some form of weapon that creates gore if our chosen sub-genre is able to relate to this. If our chosen sub-genre is of a supernatural or haunting genre then this form of weapon would be inappropriate in choice for our trailer.

In conclusion, we as a group believe that the interviews provided valuable information for us to consider when creating the trailer on our chosen topic. This was a good form of audience research because we used a representative audience in terms of 50% female and 50% males as well as the ability to apply and ask to a series of ages from 16 upwards. It is important to ask a representative audience because it allows for a good collection of results in which to study. In terms of our personal interviews there is a clear favourite sub-genre for slasher and gore related genres. However, there is also a need for a form of sub-genre that isn't overused in today cinema society and so we as a group feel that a psychological horror or paranormal horror would be one of a good choice in winch to exploit and produce a trailer for.
