We have created a script for our trailer so that we could follow the list of exactly what we wanted to include in it:
At the start there will be dialogue over the top of the scenes of the 2 girls together. Although they are having a nice time together and laughing, the voice overs will start to make the audience worry about what is happening and aware that something is not quite right.
Georgia 'Things are moving. Honestly things are moving by themselves!'
Georgia 'Come over tonight and see'
Asena 'Can ghosts make a cup of tea on their own?'
These pieces of dialogue show that something strange is going on but the fact that the friend is making a joke out of it makes it seem less serious and not as much to worry about at this point in time, however the later scenes to come and the sudden impact the music and other sounds will have, along with the pace of the trailer, will prove something extremely scary is happening and there is a poltergeist terrorising these girls in their own home.
Later on in the trailer, we will include other pieces of dialogue over the clips, such as below:
Georgia 'I don't understand'
Georgia 'What's happening?!'
Georgia 'Stop'
Asena 'Help'
Georgia 'Leave her alone!'
Asena 'Get me down'
These will match different clips, such as when the girl is being strangled by the poltergeist with the curtain.
The use of having these pieces of dialogue in the trailer is extremely effective as it adds to the suspense and thrill of the horror movie and makes the audience even more intrigued and gripped to what the film will hold.
Here are some examples of other scripts from horror films that we have researched and used for inspiration when making our own script:
