1. Our first idea is based on the psychological thriller, American Psycho. We like the idea of a thriller/slasher genre and have been inspired by the plots of both American Psycho and Sleeping With The Enemy. The main role would be played by a male actor who will be a psychotic serial killer. By day, he is a handsome, young professional, and by night, he lives a second life as a gruesome mass killer. Below are some of our initial ideas for murder scenes:
Our horror film would be inspired by scenes from American Psycho and we would use these to make our own gruesome and disturbing scenes in the form of a movie trailer.
- Follows a female around her house. She doesn't know he is there. He kills her when she is in the shower.
- Chases a girl. She escapes in her car and but has to stop as she breaks down. Gets out to try and fix the car and when she gets back in he is in there in the back seat and kills her.
- Takes a girl back to his house after a date and when she discovers things in his house (an eye, a finger, a body, etc) she tries to escape. He kills her by dropping a chainsaw onto her down the spiralling staircase.
- Holds a group of people hostage in a tall building after a business meeting. They try to escape but he finds them e.g. in the elevator and kills them all.

2. Our other ideas are a poltergeist based movie. It would be set in a house that is experiencing various haunting and mysterious going ons. There is a poltergeist tormenting the family living in the house and is targeting a child in particular, who ends up becoming possessed and has the soul of the poltergeist in it's body. It is based on the TV programme, The Enfield Haunting, which is based on a real life haunting, and we would again use this inspiration for our own movie trailer. Some of the ideas we have for a paranormal genre are:
- The child is sleeping in bed and is woken up by mysterious noises coming from around the house. Gets up and looks around the house to find nothing in the house but a number of strange goings ons, such as the cupboard door being wide open and the curtains ripped away from the window.
- The child is alone in the house and starts to hear the noises again, but realises it is just the cat. The cat, however, can sense the poltergeist and it's strange behaviour indicates to the owner that someone else is in the house with them.
- The child is in the bathroom and is looking in the mirror. They turn to dry their face after washing it and when they turn back the poltergeist is behind them. The mirror is smashed and has blood dripping down it and the poltergeist can be seen behind them in the mirror.
3. Another one of our ideas was based on Saw. The idea of freedom being taken away from those to whom an individual thinks they aren't worthy. An individual having the power over others who in turn have power over even more individuals, the way in which we can create an atmosphere where everyday people become killers to survive and escape. Within this pitch idea, a student would play a "jigsaw" style character with others playing victims, the backstory would cover these individuals being alcohol addicts as well as drug addicts. This pitch would have a twist in which those who damage society are "cleansed" in a Purge style film in terms of being taken away from that same society. It would be a slasher style genre and would be extremely gory and gruesome.
4. Our final idea is a hostage/massacre situation in a school. The idea would be that the protagonist is a child within a school, and midway through a normal school day a shooting massacre begins and the whole film is shot through a first person perspective of a child and we witness what goes through his/her mind and what they are thinking, as well as whether or not they dare to challenge the gunmen and try to escape and, most of all, stay alive. This horror film would be a slasher genre and would be a very intense and exaggerated insight into the reality of what has actually happened in some schools around the world.
Our first two pitches are our preferred ideas and the ones we wish to expand on and hopefully pursue. Our final two pitches are less preferred but a possible choice of genre and inspiration for us to decide on. This is due to the fact we don't think they are as realistic to make ourselves and also as scary. By doing one of our first two ideas, especially paranormal, we feel they will be more thrilling and gruesome, which is the path we want to take for our trailer. We want it to be as intense and nail-biting as possible, therefore, our first two choices are the ones we would like to do the most. We also feel we would be able to film the trailer in much better locations, such as at a house, whereas for our other ideas, we would need various and larger locations, with a lot of people in. With our first ideas, we will only need a small, isolated location and a couple of actors, therefore allowing us to focus more on the intensity and scenes we are going to shoot. For example, a paranormal movie set in a house at night time would be very effective in one of our own houses, filming our own actors. We feel this would be much more realistic and, ultimately, scary.
In conclusion, we believe we are going to choose Pitch 2 because of the potential the ideas have and the scenes we can create for our horror trailer, however this is expected to change and develop as we progress through the filming process to ensure it is as good as it can be.
