When creating our trailer we found advantages and disadvantages of filming in the daytime and the night time. When the creation of the trailer was taking place we had to adapt our times when filming in the day to make our shots for our trailer as best as they possibly could be. In addition to this we believe that the audience's perception of the film may very depending their behaviour and the time of day we choose to film in.
We decided to film various shots for our trailer in the day time for many reasons. First off, filming in the day time allows us to use natural light, simply from the sun and using realistic lighting will make the experience of the whole film feel more real and will enhance the fear within the audience watching the film itself. It will also allow the filming to be as clear as possible, making the footage look more professional. Also, the conception of filming in the day is that it is not very scary or nerve-wracking, however because the footage will look so professional we can easily add filters to give it a terrifying and mysterious aspect of horror.
We decided to film various shots for our trailer in the night time for multiple reasons. First off, filming in the darkness allows us to create natural darkness while filming out in the outdoors. Not only that but the darkness creates vulnerability within the characters that are involved within the film and therefore increases the tension within the audience themselves.
We filmed at night time within a house because we feel that a house is generally regarded as a safe and secure building but the darkness outside creates this sense of fear and tension within the scene, causing the audience to be cautious about what is going to happen to the characters and this would follow the theory of Wes Craven, where a traditional safe place would be actually vulnerable to an attack or assault.
